Air and artillery strikes were carried out in southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire. Israeli aircraft struck the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district in the morning, while an Israeli drone targeted a location between Upper Nabatieh and Mifdoun.
Areas hit by Israeli artillery fire overnight and at dawn included Mansouri, valleys near Zibqin, the area between Mifdoun and East Zawtar, and Wadi al-Saluki.
Solar panels on shared-use land in Mifdoun were targeted by artillery fire. No information was provided on whether the resulting fire caused deaths or injuries.
The towns of Baraachit and Beit Yahoun also came under machine-gun fire. In addition, a large explosion took place overnight in the Al-Abd al-Nabi neighborhood of Baraachit.
Displacement and casualties in Lebanon
After the Israeli army launched intensive airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2, dozens of towns in the country’s south were occupied. The Lebanese government said the number of people displaced by the attacks had exceeded 1 million.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least 4,386 people had been killed in Israeli attacks since March 2.
Ceasefire and framework agreement
The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel took effect on April 17 and was extended several times afterward. Despite this, air, artillery and machine-gun attacks continued in various towns and valleys in southern Lebanon.
Following the fifth round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon held in Washington, the two countries signed a framework agreement on June 26.
