Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaydi banned the use of the country's territory as a springboard for attacks on neighboring states in the region. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, al-Zaydi held an emergency security meeting to discuss regional developments.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister ordered the prevention of any threat or violation from Iraqi territory against neighboring countries and decided to establish a joint coordination committee for this purpose. Al-Zaydi also called for the development of deterrent mechanisms to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
The Iraqi Prime Minister called on security forces to uphold the rule of law, strengthen security and stability, protect national sovereignty, and adhere to the principles of good neighborliness. The statement emphasized that the Iraqi armed forces are ready to thwart any attempt to use the country's territory for attacks on neighboring states.
It was reaffirmed that Iraq will absolutely not allow its territory to be used as a launchpad or transit route for attacks on brotherly and friendly countries. This stance, it was stated, is part of Iraq's responsibility to protect national sovereignty, adhere to the principles of good neighborliness, and respect international law.
