Israeli forces carried out airstrikes and artillery attacks and opened heavy machine-gun fire in southern Lebanon on Wednesday morning.
In the Nabatieh district, Israeli warplanes targeted the area around Nabatieh al-Fawqa and the direction of Kfar Tibnit. The Doha area of Kfar Rumman was also subjected to intermittent artillery fire.
Explosive capsules were dropped from an Israeli drone over the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district, while artillery fire was also directed at the same area.
The town of Majdal Zoun in the Marjayoun district came under heavy machine-gun fire at dawn, while the area around Qabrikha in the district was subjected to artillery attacks.
Operations continue in southern Lebanon
The attacks took place amid military operations that have continued in southern Lebanon since March 2 and amid escalating clashes.
Since March 2, Israel has carried out airstrikes and ground operations in various parts of the region. The attacks have caused casualties and extensive damage, including damage to residential areas and civilian infrastructure.
Negotiations on withdrawal and security arrangements
Negotiations between Lebanon and Israel aim to establish security arrangements, secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and expand the authority of the Lebanese state in the country’s south.
Lebanese officials argued that the ongoing attacks were weakening the negotiation process. They also stressed that the diplomatic path should be preferred for resolving disputes.
