Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu may chair a security meeting on Iran this evening.
Defence Minister Yisrael Katz, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, Mossad Director Roman Goffman and Shin Bet Director David Zini are expected to attend.
Iran and the 27 October elections on the agenda
The meeting is expected to assess concerns over the possibility of Iran restarting its nuclear programme. A scenario involving a surprise attack from Iran is also expected to be discussed.

Possible attempts to sabotage the elections scheduled for 27 October in Israel are also among the scenarios expected to be considered.

Possible attacks on Iran, Lebanon and Gaza
The administrations in Washington and Tel Aviv have reportedly been considering the option of resuming attacks on Iran in recent weeks.
Netanyahu may also launch an attack on Iran, Lebanon or Gaza before the elections on 27 October.
Netanyahu reportedly met senior security officials on Thursday evening, and Israel raised its security alert level 11 days before the Oct. 27 general election. Israel’s public broadcaster said there was no confirmed information on any intention by Iran or Hezbollah to attack, and that the army was closely monitoring developments on various fronts. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said the likelihood of escalation had increased because of warnings from several fronts and the sensitivity of the period.
