The headquarters of Israel's Channel 12 in Tel Aviv was attacked by a masked individual. According to the channel, the assailant smashed the glass door, entered the office, and left a threatening letter.
The letter read: "I will not stop until you apologize for broadcasting the rape footage of a Palestinian prisoner at Sde Teiman." According to the channel, the attacker also wrote that he would target journalists next. Israeli police launched an investigation into the incident.
The Sde Teiman rape footage
Channel 12 had previously aired footage showing the rape of a Palestinian prisoner held from Gaza at the Sde Teiman military prison. After the footage was broadcast, soldiers were investigated on charges of torture, perversion, and attempting to cause bodily harm, and nine soldiers were detained.
In July 2024, a far-right group staged a demonstration outside Sde Teiman. Protesters, including members of the Knesset, attempted to storm the prison during the detention process.
As part of the investigation, former Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, accused of leaking the rape footage to the press, was detained in early November 2025 and placed under investigation. Yerushalmi had resigned under pressure from far-right ministers and groups.
The Sde Teiman trial, in which Israeli soldiers were being prosecuted, was closed on March 12, overshadowed by attacks on Iran. In April, the army approved the return to service of reserve soldiers involved in the rape incident.
Previous attack on reporter
Channel 12 reporter Guy Peleg, who aired the Sde Teiman rape footage, was attacked by far-right Israelis last November.
