Security incidents continue in Syria
Although security conditions in Syria have improved since the regime of Bashar al-Assad was overthrown on December 8, 2024, attacks targeting security forces, military personnel and civilians continue intermittently in some areas.
The Syrian government says it is pursuing remnants of the former regime to strengthen the country’s security and stability. Officials accuse these groups of causing unrest in some areas and say they will not allow the country’s internal security to be threatened.
