Major General Mohamed Negm, protocol official at the Egyptian Presidency, visited the Turkish Embassy in Cairo to convey President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Türkiye’s Republic Day, which falls on October 29.
Türkiye is celebrating this year the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the republic in 1923.
Rapid rapprochement between Ankara and Cairo
Türkiye-Egypt relations have seen rapid rapprochement in recent years. The two presidents exchanged official visits in 2024, and the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the two countries was held in Cairo in February 2026.
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense announced on Wednesday that the “Sea of Friendship 2026” exercise between the two countries’ naval forces will be held in Alexandria. The foreign ministers of the two countries, Hakan Fidan and Badr Abdelatty, also held a phone call on the same day.
