Syrian and Saudi delegations signed three memorandums of understanding covering transport, logistics and postal services at an expanded meeting held in Damascus, the capital.
Technical cooperation on transport networks
Syrian Transport Minister Yarub Badr and Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser signed two memorandums covering logistics and railways.
The memorandums cover capacity building, expertise sharing and technical work to rehabilitate Syria’s road and railway networks. The arrangements aim to increase freight transport and trade between the two countries.
Partnership on postal systems
Syrian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdulsalam Haykal and Al-Jasser signed the third memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the Syrian Postal Corporation and Saudi Post.
The postal arrangement provides for the two countries to increase the sharing of experience and expertise, develop their postal systems and strengthen cooperation between the relevant institutions.
Visa facilitation for truck drivers
Badr praised Saudi steps to facilitate the issuance of visas for truck drivers to ease freight transport in both directions. He said they expected Syria’s road and railway networks to be developed and to benefit from Saudi Arabia’s experience.
Al-Jasser expressed Saudi Arabia’s determination to strengthen cooperation and partnership with Syria. He said the visit aimed to expand areas of cooperation and increase the sharing of experience by benefiting from projects carried out under Saudi Arabia’s national vision.
No timetable was announced for when investment and engineering projects linked to the memorandums would begin implementation on the ground. The agreements continue the investment packages and understandings signed in infrastructure, aviation, communications, water and real estate development as part of economic relations between Damascus and Riyadh since the beginning of 2026.
