Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, discussing Syria’s future, the country’s reconstruction, regional developments and Damascus’s position on Israeli attacks.
At the conclusion of his address, al-Sharaa quoted a verse from the Quran to express his message, saying from the UN podium: "The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish."
Al-Sharaa said the war had taught Syrians that the truth is strong and falsehood is weak, affirming that Syria would continue its reconstruction efforts and restore its dignity and standing.
The Syrian president stressed that his government would continue working to serve the Syrian people as Damascus seeks to strengthen its political and diplomatic presence internationally.
During his address, al-Sharaa discussed developments in Syria in recent years, pointing to efforts to rebuild state institutions, improve economic conditions, attract investment and facilitate the return of refugees and displaced people.

Al-Sharaa discusses Israel and Syria’s future
The Syrian president addressed Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, saying their continuation undermines prospects for peace and security in the region.
He affirmed Damascus’s commitment to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, calling for Israeli forces to withdraw to the lines in place before December 8, 2024, and rejecting what he described as attempts to impose a new reality inside Syrian territory.
At the same time, al-Sharaa said that the opportunity to achieve peace and security remained for those seeking a just peace that preserves the rights of all parties.
The Syrian president said his country had attended the previous session of the General Assembly to announce its return to the international community, while it came to the 81st session to present what had been achieved during the previous period.
Al-Sharaa expressed hope that the next phase would produce results from the international partnerships Damascus is working to develop, supporting reconstruction, stability and development in Syria.
