The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment detected a tanker-related oil spill affecting the shores of Umm Al Quwain through its technical monitoring and environmental assessment system.
Control, cleanup and environmental rehabilitation efforts were launched in coordination with local and federal authorities to reduce the spill’s impact on the environment. Teams are continuing shoreline surveys, monitoring and assessments to protect the marine environment and determine the boundaries of the affected area.
Temporary access restrictions on Umm Al Quwain shores
All beaches and coastal areas in Umm Al Quwain were temporarily closed to allow technical teams to complete their assessments and determine the necessary safety and marine protection measures.

The ministry urged fishermen and other marine users to follow the authorities’ instructions and refrain from fishing in the affected areas.
The reported odors in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain were said not to pose a health risk to residents. The public was urged to follow updates through official channels and avoid rumors.
