Three Palestinians were detained during raids carried out in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday. A 16-year-old child was also severely beaten while being detained during Israeli army operations targeting four towns and Qalandiya Refugee Camp.
Three Palestinians working on agricultural land in the Hallet al-Qutla area near the Kerem Tzur Jewish settlement in the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, were detained.
The 16-year-old child was released
Israeli forces detained the 16-year-old child after entering the Solomon’s Pools tourist area southwest of Bethlehem. The child, who had been severely beaten, was later released.
Israeli forces also entered the towns of Birzeit and Jifna north of Ramallah, as well as the Issawiya area in occupied East Jerusalem. Forces stationed at Qalandiya Refugee Camp north of Jerusalem took up positions in some neighborhoods, set up a military checkpoint between Birzeit and the village of Burham, and stopped vehicles.
Demolition notices issued for Palestinian structures
Demolition notices were distributed for several structures and buildings in Qalandiya Refugee Camp. In the village of al-Mughayyir northeast of Ramallah, a Palestinian was forced to demolish his farm.
Israeli settlers set fire to agricultural land in the lands of East Mazra'a, in the al-Sahl area beside the main road near the town of Sinjil, northeast of Ramallah.
Raids and attacks in the West Bank
The Israeli army conducts raids on cities, towns and refugee camps across the West Bank, largely on the grounds of detaining wanted Palestinians.
Attacks targeting Palestinians and their property in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have increased since October 8, 2023, when the war in Gaza began. These attacks include killings, detentions, the demolition of homes and structures, the burning of mosques, the destruction of agricultural land, preventing farmers from accessing their land, and the displacement of Palestinians.
Palestinians warn that these practices indicate that Israel is preparing to formally annex the West Bank. Such a step would weaken the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state envisioned in relevant United Nations resolutions.
