U.S. President Trump spoke at a ceremony in a Baltimore shipyard marking Anduril’s $3.7 billion investment to manufacture components for nuclear-powered submarines.
Trump said defense investments in the United States were increasing and emphasized the importance of nuclear-powered submarines in this field. Saying that these investments would strengthen the U.S. military, Trump stated that the future of the U.S. Navy depended on major technology-focused investments.
Trump speaks about the war with Iran
Speaking about the option of war with Iran, Trump said, "We have to finish this job, and the question is only how we want to do it. Are we going to do it in a nice way, or in a not-so-nice way? You will find out very soon."
Trump argued that they had nearly destroyed Iran’s military capabilities. Referring to Iran’s former religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, he said, "Do you remember Khamenei? They’re all dead."
Trump said that many leaders in the region had thanked him after the United States struck Iran, adding that he had responded to them, "I said to them, when are you going to pay for this?"
Claim about the Strait of Hormuz
Trump said that large volumes of oil continued to be shipped through the Strait of Hormuz every day and argued that the strait was entirely under the control of the U.S. Navy. Trump said, "In other words, the Strait of Hormuz belongs to the U.S. Navy and the United States of America."
Trump also said that the United States did not need oil from the region.
Trump also said Iran’s air force and navy were “gone,” claiming that “they have 159 ships, every one of them is right now at the bottom of the sea,” and that “dozens of Iran’s terrorist leaders have been blown out of existence and straight through to the gates of hell.” He added: “The biggest problem I have is nobody knows who the hell is running the country.”
