U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would not resort to nuclear weapons as military options against Iran were being discussed. Trump said Washington had no need for such a weapon.
Asked in an interview on Thursday whether his administration was considering using nuclear weapons against Iran, Trump replied, "I won't use nuclear weapons. There's no need for that." Trump also said the conventional bomb known as the "mother of all bombs" was not nuclear.
New operation option for Pickaxe Mountain
Trump also raised the possibility of a new operation against Pickaxe Mountain, Iran's nuclear facility suspected of being located underground. "We're looking at Pickaxe Mountain now. We may have to go there," Trump said, adding that a potential operation could be completed quickly.

Asked whether U.S. ground troops would be used in such an operation, Trump replied, "I don't see that." Trump said leaving the region without ensuring that Iran would not acquire nuclear weapons could lead to another U.S. military intervention within a year.
Trump said Washington's goal was to ensure that Iran never possessed nuclear weapons, adding that options targeting Iran's nuclear facilities were being considered as part of that effort.
Following reports that the U.S. administration was considering using the GBU-43/B against Iran, the White House said Trump was keeping all options on the table to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. The GBU-43/B, which weighs about 9,800 kilograms, was first used in April 2017, during Trump’s first term, against a Daesh/ISIS tunnel complex in Afghanistan.
Trump suggests war will end soon
Trump suggested that the war with Iran would end very soon and said Tehran was negotiating with Washington. Trump said the war would end shortly, "one way or another."

According to Trump, the end of the war would cause oil and natural gas prices to fall rapidly. Trump claimed that Iranian officials were seeking an end to U.S. and Israeli military operations and said the operations had been halted because of the negotiations.
He says he does not trust Netanyahu
Asked whether he trusted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump replied, "Honestly, I don't trust anybody." Trump said he did not trust anyone in the political world.
In the same interview, Trump also commented on the Russia-Ukraine war. Arguing that the war could not be resolved through Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump claimed that Zelensky says he wants a deal but does not actually want one, and said he thought working with Zelensky was harder than working with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
