About 10 Israeli military vehicles advanced toward the Abdin Dam in the Dera region of southern Syria. Israeli military aircraft also flew over Dera, which borders the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Israeli forces opened indiscriminate fire on agricultural fields east of Abdin village and searched several homes. On Thursday, a house and a fodder warehouse in the Dera countryside were set ablaze. No information was provided on whether there were any casualties or on the extent of the damage.
Another five-vehicle force advanced in Dera a day earlier
A day earlier, another Israeli force consisting of five vehicles entered the same area through the Tel Abu Gaysar gate beside the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The force raided the home of a local resident, detained several young men for about an hour and seized a motorcycle. Israeli forces then withdrew from the area after opening fire on empty land.
Israel’s military presence in Syria expanded
After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, Israel increased its military operations in Syria. During this period, it carried out airstrikes on military sites and expanded its presence in the buffer zone in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Syrian authorities described Israel’s incursions and attacks against the country as violations of its sovereignty. The Damascus administration reiterated its call for Israel to withdraw to the positions set out in the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement.
Damascus and Tel Aviv continue negotiations, mediated by the United States, on security arrangements and the reinstatement of the 1974 agreement.
