Tunisia's date exports generated more than 1 billion Tunisian dinars in revenue for the country's economy during the 2025–2026 season. Export revenues exceeded $333.3 million.
Approximately 160,000 tons of dates were shipped abroad during the season. Tunisian dates are reaching more than 94 countries, including European countries as well as Canada, the United States, India and Russia.
European market leads
While the European market is the most important export destination for Tunisian dates, production is expected to rise to approximately 354,000 tons in the new season.
The price of dates from the new season has not yet been determined. Prices are expected to be shaped by supply and demand conditions.
Deglet Nour accounts for most of the record production
Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Izzeddin Bin Sheikh oversaw the start of the harvest season on October 23 in Kebili Governorate in the country's south. During the event, a record production of 404,000 tons was announced in Tunisia.

Deglet Nour accounted for 347,000 tons of the record production, while other date varieties accounted for 57,000 tons.
Date palm groves are concentrated in southern governorates
Date palm groves in Tunisia cover approximately 61,000 hectares. Production takes place in areas across the governorates of Gafsa, Tozeur, Kebili and Gabes.
There are approximately 8 million date palms in these southern regions. These trees form the foundation of Tunisia's national date production.
