The Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu announced that a Turkish delegation led by Turkish Space Agency Vice President Fatih Dolkan had visited Somalia. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Presidency of Defense Industries and Roketsan.
The delegation held meetings and conducted inspection tours in the capital, Mogadishu, and the Warsheikh area. The embassy said cooperation between Türkiye and Somalia was continuing in the fields of space, industry, technology and defense industries.

A spaceport near Warsheikh
Warsheikh is located about 70 kilometers north of Mogadishu, where Türkiye is working on a spaceport project. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on October 5 that construction work on the facility had begun.
The project benefits from Somalia's proximity to the equator, as rockets launched from these areas require less fuel to carry heavy payloads into orbit.
