Istanbul’s historic Galata Tower was lit in the colors of the Palestinian flag on the evening of Oct. 7, as the Culture and Tourism Ministry’s General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums repeated a practice it has carried out on that date for two years.
The initiative aims to keep Gaza in people’s minds and show solidarity with Palestinians through one of the city’s best-known landmarks, visited by millions every year.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said preventing what is happening in Gaza from being forgotten and not staying silent in the face of oppression is a shared responsibility of all humanity.
