Türkiye's Embassy in Kigali announced that it met with a delegation from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye, which is attending the 38th Meeting of the Parties (MOP38) in the Rwandan capital, ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP31, to be hosted by Antalya, Türkiye.
The Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment
The Meeting of the Parties is held annually under the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer. Kigali is connected to this framework through the Kigali Amendment, adopted there in 2016 to limit hydrofluorocarbons that contribute to global warming.
Türkiye is chairing COP31, which will begin in Antalya this November, while its diplomatic missions around the world continue introducing the conference and its priorities.
