Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the United States had proposed technical-level trilateral talks between Ukraine and Russia in the United Arab Emirates. Zelenskyy said they were awaiting a US proposal on the date of the meeting.
Zelenskyy said the United States had proposed the United Arab Emirates as the venue for the talks and that the process would be reassessed after consultations among Ukraine, the United States, the European Union and Russia.
Consultations with Europe and Moscow
Zelenskyy said that, following his meeting with Trump in New York, Ukrainian and US delegations had agreed to hold consultations with the European Union and Moscow.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine would discuss the details with the European side, while the United States would establish contact with Russia. He added that the sides planned to return to the talks after 10 days to assess the situation and share their conclusions.
Russia’s hybrid attack threat
Zelenskyy also said that his meeting with CIA Director John Ratcliffe had addressed Russia’s threat of hybrid attacks against European countries.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine, the United States and European partners shared the same understanding in their assessments of the current situation. He added that the intelligence services of some countries had announced that they would take certain steps in the near future in response to Russia’s hybrid actions.
