The closure of the Tayasir and Ayn Shibli checkpoints in the Jordan Valley in the northern West Bank disrupted access to educational institutions in Tubas. The Palestinian Ministry of Education said 104 teachers were unable to reach the schools where they work.
The checkpoints, which were closed on Sunday morning, prevented classes from being held regularly at six public schools and a kindergarten. Around 1,100 girls and boys attend these institutions.
Entrance to Al-Mughayyir closed
Israeli forces also entered the village of Al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah in the central West Bank, and closed its main entrance. Military units spread through the village’s neighborhoods early Sunday, raided homes and detained dozens of Palestinians.
Infantry units, military vehicles and a drone were present in the area during the raid. The closure of the village entrance disrupted students’ access to schools and workers’ access to their workplaces.
Repeated raids continued in Al-Mughayyir, as did settler attacks targeting Palestinians and their property.
Restrictions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
Attacks against Palestinians increased in the West Bank and East Jerusalem after the war in Gaza began in October 2023. During this period, killings, arrests, the demolition of homes and other structures, the closure of checkpoints and the expansion of settlements were among the measures carried out.
