A ship anchored at Al Ardi Port in Yemen’s Bab el-Mandeb region and the quay were reportedly damaged in an alleged missile attack by the Houthis. Yemen’s media reported that four ballistic missiles struck the ship.
The targeted civilian vessel was identified as Emir Han and was said to belong to Yemeni contractor Bilal Aiz al-Shamiri. The vessel, previously purchased from an Indian merchant in Indonesia, was used for maritime and commercial activities.
The vessel was not carrying commercial cargo at the time of the attack and had been at a maintenance quay since December 2025. The Yemeni crew had left the ship the previous week, and no one was killed in the incident.
The attack allegedly caused heavy damage to the ship and extensive destruction at the quay where it was moored. The quay was reportedly rendered unusable.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement on the same day that a Saudi military landing ship and four military boats were targeted off Mokha in the Red Sea.
Fighting intensifies again in Yemen
The Yemen war, which began about 12 years ago, had remained relatively calm since April 2022. The Houthis continue to control numerous cities and provinces, including the capital, Sanaa.
Fighting between government forces and the Houthis has reportedly increased again in several areas in recent weeks, particularly in the provinces of Marib, Al Jawf, Al Dhale'e and Taiz. The Saudi-led coalition supports Yemen’s government forces, while the Houthis face accusations of receiving support from Iran.
