On July 13, 20-year-old Nasr Zaal Kaabneh was fatally shot near the separation wall near the town of Bir Nabala. The report noted that 9,848 settlers raided Al-Aqsa Mosque under Israeli police protection in July. It also stated that 4,615 people entered the site under the guise of "tourism".
The largest raid took place on July 23, coinciding with the commemoration of the "Destruction of the Temple". 4,248 settlers, including Israeli ministers, Knesset members, and members of "Temple" groups, entered Al-Aqsa Mosque on that date.
Despite requests from the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Department to stop the raids, Israeli police have been allowing settlers to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque since 2003.
Detentions, Attacks, and Demolition Activities
The governorate's report documented that settlers carried out 43 attacks across Jerusalem in July, 5 of which were physical assaults. Israeli forces also detained 115 Palestinians during the same period, including 5 women and 1 child. Israeli authorities issued 16 administrative detention orders, 3 house arrest orders, and 17 expulsion orders, 11 of which were from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Twenty-nine demolition incidents were recorded. They were classified as 13 forced self-demolitions, 14 demolitions carried out by Israeli vehicles, and 2 excavation activities. Israeli authorities also issued 26 demolition notices and decided to confiscate land for military purposes.
Settlement Expansion Plans
The report stated that 22 new settlement plans were identified and steps were taken to build a total of 1,472 housing units through 3 tenders.
Palestinians state that Israel is trying to Judaize East Jerusalem and erase its Arab-Islamic identity, while they see East Jerusalem as their capital.
