Sixteen Palestinian students from Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Medicine in Gaza completed their studies at Istanbul Medeniyet University, and their graduation ceremony was held on October 27 at the Aşık Paşa Conference Hall on the university’s South Campus.
Sadat Tin Pençe, dean of Medeniyet University’s Faculty of Medicine, said 33 students from Gaza had graduated from the university over the past two years, adding that this “is not only Gaza’s issue, but a matter of conscience for all humanity.”

Mohammad Riyad Zagbour, dean of Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Medicine in Gaza, said Türkiye opened its doors when the world closed its doors, stressing that the graduating doctors would return to Gaza to rebuild its healthcare system. Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan participated in the ceremony with a video message.
The graduates recited the professional oath, and medical students and healthcare workers who lost their lives in Gaza were remembered.
