The Saudi-led coalition announced that Yemen’s Houthis had targeted the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha and Jizan in the south of the country.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki said the Houthis had launched numerous ballistic missiles and drones at the three cities today.
Maliki claimed that the Houthis, which he said were supported by Iran, continued to target Saudi Arabia’s national resources and infrastructure. He argued that the attacks demonstrated an approach aimed at escalating tensions by targeting the country’s civilian population and residential areas.
The coalition spokesperson said the forces would take action to protect Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and national resources. Maliki also said they would counter attacks against civilians and residential areas.
Maliki said the coalition’s measures would comply with international law and international humanitarian law, along with the principle of self-defense set out in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and said the coalition would act within this framework.
