Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates was targeted by dozens of explosive drones on Monday morning, Iran’s army said. The army announced that an operation had been carried out against US troops and helicopters at the base.
Iran’s army described Al Minhad Air Base as an important logistics and air transport hub for foreign forces. It said retaliatory actions against US troops would continue.
Retaliation for the operation on Larak Island
Iran said the action against Al Minhad was carried out after US forces conducted an operation on Larak Island on Sunday. Iran’s army said members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and civilians had been targeted in the operation, resulting in deaths and injuries.
US forces struck two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island. It was claimed that the Iranian missile systems were preparing to launch rockets carrying naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
The operation was the first US attack on Iranian territory since late July.
Tehran signals retaliation
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it would retaliate for the attack on Larak Island. The Tasnim news agency said initial information indicated that the operation had been carried out with drones.
