The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company said oil production on Kharg Island was continuing despite the attacks, adding that the island had been bombed several times by the United States and Israel.
The Iranian official made the remarks in response to an earlier statement by U.S. President Donald Trump that Kharg Island had been completely destroyed. Calling Trump's remarks ridiculous, the CEO said work to rebuild and renovate the island's storage tanks was continuing.
According to the official, none of the ongoing work on Kharg Island had been halted. Progress on some projects stood at between 20 and 30 percent, and operations were continuing.
