Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was trying to draw the United States into a new war with Iran. Araghchi alleged that Netanyahu was pursuing this policy to avoid a prison sentence.
In a written statement, Araghchi argued that Netanyahu was disregarding the potential consequences for both Israel and U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Netanyahu is dragging America into another war to stay out of prison."
The Iranian foreign minister also warned Washington against launching a new military operation against Iran.
"The last time you wanted to finish the job, Iran became even stronger. Do you want to try your luck again? Go ahead. But be careful; we also have unfinished business."

Araghchi’s remarks came after Trump voiced support for Netanyahu on the same day. Ahead of the elections scheduled to take place in Israel on October 27, Trump praised his partnership with Netanyahu and the campaign against Iran.
In a message posted on the Truth Social platform, Trump said that if Israel chose another leader instead of Netanyahu, the United States "might have to do this job itself." Trump also said he did not want to take on such a responsibility.
Netanyahu has headed Israel’s current government since late 2022. The government is described as the most right-wing in Israel’s history.
Netanyahu is on trial in Israel over corruption allegations and could face prison sentences in those cases if found guilty. He also faces an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court since 2024 over allegations of war crimes in Gaza.
Opposition parties in Israel have expanded their cooperation to replace Netanyahu’s government through elections.
The United States and Israel launched military attacks against Iran on February 28, and Tehran carried out attacks in response. After a ceasefire was reached in April and a framework agreement was concluded in June, the fighting resumed when negotiations between Washington and Tehran stalled.
Araghchi spoke with his Egyptian counterpart
On Sunday, Araghchi spoke by phone with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The two ministers discussed the latest developments in the region, as well as diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and preserve regional stability.
