Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, an official with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said the possibility of a new U.S. attack against Iran could not be ruled out. Speaking on a television program, Mohebbi said such an attack would be irrational but that Iran was preparing for it.

Mohebbi said Iran would respond to a possible attack and that the response would produce an outcome Washington would regret.
Mohebbi said Iran had used previous-generation weapons during the war that began on February 28, adding that the country now possessed more modern systems. He made the remarks about Iran’s weapons capabilities.

Mohebbi claimed that the possibility of a new U.S. attack stemmed from Donald Trump’s need for a political achievement ahead of the midterm elections. He said Washington had circulated claims of divisions within Iran’s leadership to justify its failure in the war. He also rejected statements that there were disagreements within Iran’s top leadership.
