Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a stern warning against US regional policies. In a statement on X on Wednesday night, Ghalibaf stressed that the Washington administration's habit of bullying and failing to fulfill its commitments now has consequences.
Ghalibaf directly targeted the US, saying: "The US still hasn't learned that bullying and reneging on promises are no longer cost-free. I say it clearly: If you strike, you will be struck."
The Iranian official also addressed the status of the Strait of Hormuz in the same post. "Stop flailing in vain, or you will sink even deeper: The Strait of Hormuz opens only under 'Iran's regulations,' not under American threats," he said.
Earlier the same day, Ghalibaf had also condemned the new US attacks on Iran. Noting that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the ceasefire agreement between the two countries, had been largely violated, Ghalibaf listed the violations as follows:
- Continued threats of new attacks
- Reimposition of oil sanctions
- Attacks on southern Iran
- Continuation of Israel's military operations in Lebanon
The Iranian Parliament Speaker described these as "major US violations of the MOU" and said: "The era of bullying and usurpation is over. This path leads nowhere. We will not submit."
