The naval force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had targeted four vessels carrying oil in the northern part of the Gulf, saying the vessels had been spotted transferring oil from one ship to another and were targeted simultaneously because they were crossing unauthorized routes.
The statement added that fires were still burning on the targeted vessels.

The IRGC accused the United States of encouraging ships to use a sea lane it said was mined, arguing that this increases maritime accidents. It warned that if Washington continues this approach, U.S. bases in the region will come within the scope of Iranian retaliation.
The region has remained tense since the confrontation between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other broke out on February 28, followed by mutual attacks despite the ceasefire announced in April.
