The General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia condemned the Houthi group’s attempt to target Mecca and Medina, saying the group’s practices are no less dangerous than the terrorism of extremist groups such as Daesh and al-Qaeda.
The council described the attempt to target the two holy cities as an act of terrorism by every measure. It said the Houthis had attempted to target people visiting the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, and praised the vigilance of Saudi air defenses and the readiness of the armed forces.

The council called on Muslims to condemn the attack on the holy sites and stand united against it, stressing that such practices violate the sanctity of lives, property, security and stability.
Meanwhile, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced on Wednesday that it had intercepted and destroyed six drones.
