Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a harsh statement regarding the two tanker explosions in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement claimed that the US military forced the tankers to use an unsafe transit route.
"This is our territory and the terrorist American army's intervention from thousands of kilometers away has no legal basis; it will be met with determination," the communiqué said, describing US forces as an "aggressive army" and calling on them to prepare for a punitive operation.
The Revolutionary Guards reiterated that as long as American "banditry" continues, not a single drop of oil, gas or chemical fertilizer will be allowed to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Guards stated that the strait has been closed to all ship traffic since early this month, and Tehran stressed that this situation will persist until the US ends its interventions in the region.
