Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates summoned Jordan’s ambassador in Damascus, Sufyan al-Qudah, and handed him a protest note over strikes that hit civilian sites in Daraa province in southern Syria on Monday, SANA reported.
Syrian authorities said the strikes killed civilians, including children, and wounded others.

Damascus calls the strikes a violation of its sovereignty
Syria’s Foreign Ministry rejected the strikes and described them as a violation of Syrian sovereignty, calling for security challenges along the border to be addressed through coordination between the two countries.
Joint security committee to investigate the strikes
In an effort to ease tensions, the two countries’ foreign ministers held a phone call during which the Jordanian side expressed regret over the civilian casualties. The ministers agreed to form a joint security committee to examine the details of the recent operations and follow up on their repercussions.
Syrian authorities also reopened the Nasib border crossing with Jordan after both countries affirmed their commitment to overcoming anything that could disrupt bilateral relations. The Jordanian army announced on Monday that it had carried out air operations against targets in southern Syria, which it said were linked to those responsible for an attack targeting Karak province.
