In the occupied West Bank, Israeli soldiers stopped an ambulance, resulting in the pregnant woman inside losing her baby. The incident at the Avarta military checkpoint south of Nablus adds to Israel's record of practices that deepen the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Ambulance Stopped; Baby Dies
Palestinian health worker Beshar Karyuti stated that the pregnant woman being taken from Karyut village to the hospital was heavily bleeding. Karyuti said Israeli soldiers forced the ambulance to stop and turn off its engine, adding: "I repeatedly told the soldiers there was a woman in a life-and-death struggle with severe bleeding inside the vehicle. But the soldier threatened us and we had to come to a complete stop."
The medical team conveyed that the ambulance's medical equipment needed to remain operational, but they only managed to reach the hospital with great difficulty. While the baby could not be saved, the mother survived.
Truck Torched, Home Demolished
According to local sources, Israelis who attacked the industrial area in the town of Beyta, south of Nablus, set fire to a parked truck. The fire was brought under control by local residents' intervention, but the truck sustained damage.
According to the Palestinian official news agency WAFA, the Israeli army raided the Arraba Station area southwest of Jenin. Israeli forces, surrounding the area with three bulldozers and a large number of soldiers, demolished the three-story house belonging to Palestinian Jihad Musa. Israeli authorities had previously issued a demolition order on the grounds that it was "built without a permit." Homeowner Musa sought legal means to stop the decision but was unsuccessful.
Demolition Policy Continues
In recent days, Israeli forces also demolished some shacks, commercial, and agricultural facilities around Arraba Station. In the strategically important area, the destruction of Palestinian-owned lands with heavy machinery and the targeting of properties are notable. Residents say these actions are not limited to the implementation of demolition orders but are part of a policy aimed at increasing Israeli control over the area.
In the area that Israel occupied in 1967 and which previously contained a military camp under the control of the Jordanian army, Israel's recent actions raise concerns that a permanent military presence is being re-established or that control is being expanded to serve illegal settlement projects.
Since the Israeli army launched its attacks on Gaza in October 2023, there has been an increase in detentions, raids, and attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. In recent days, there has been a significant rise in demolitions, sieges, attacks on homes and property, and arson incidents.
