Israeli warplanes launched a wave of heavy airstrikes on Gaza City and Khan Younis on Thursday evening, minutes after residents received calls from Israeli intelligence telling them to evacuate residential blocks, sparking panic.
In Gaza City, strikes hit the Sabra neighborhood around the Abdullah Azzam Mosque and the Old City, killing Intisar Abu Asr, 54, and 10-year-old Hussam Hawso and wounding nine others. In Khan Younis, the Zaqzouq and Najjar neighborhoods were bombed and one Palestinian was lightly wounded.

Deadly day on ceasefire’s eve
At least seven Palestinians, including a woman and a child, were killed across the Gaza Strip on Thursday. The Israeli military said it killed a Hamas commander and a member of the group. The strikes came on the eve of the first anniversary of the October 2025 ceasefire, since which Israel has killed 1,471 Palestinians and committed 5,223 violations.
