The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) will hold elections for its professional committees and assembly on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, in Halls 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the Istanbul Expo Center in Yeşilköy, opposite Atatürk Airport, with voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The chamber has 80 professional groups, and 303 ballot committees have been set up. Elections for the board chair, board of directors, disciplinary board and delegates to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) will follow on Nov. 4 in the İTO Assembly Hall in Eminönü.
Ghazwan Masri, vice president of the International Business Forum (IBF), called on Arab business owners registered with the chamber to exercise their right to vote and not to miss the opportunity. He stressed that business people’s role in production, investment and exports should be matched by an active presence in the institutions that represent their interests.
To vote, a member must have been registered with the chamber for at least two years as of election day and be liable for income or corporate tax on the commercial activity that requires chamber membership. The person casting the vote must be at least 18 and registered in the trade registry as authorized to represent and bind the company. Foreign nationals were included in the voter lists under their foreign identity numbers; those without such a number in chamber records were not listed. The voter lists were posted Oct. 12-14, and the deadline to correct records or pay overdue dues to be reinstated on the lists was set for Oct. 14.

Steps to obtain the voting authorization document
- The Istanbul Trade Registry Directorate has been issuing authorization documents since Sept. 22; applications are submitted with a petition at one of the chamber’s regional offices in Giyimkent (Esenler), Perpa (Okmeydanı) or on the Anatolian side (Maltepe).
- Each company fills out the request form separately and names the person who will vote on its behalf.
- The person named must hold unlimited authority to represent the company.
- The petition must bear wet signatures and the company stamp in line with the registered powers of representation, and the original must be submitted.
- The chamber’s announcement sets no separate deadline for the document, so completing the process before election day is advised.
