Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that shipments supporting the Israeli army’s military capacity would not be allowed to pass through Malaysia.
Ibrahim said Malaysian authorities had seized some cargo prepared for shipment to Israel. Describing Malaysia’s position on shipments supporting the Israeli army as clear and firm, Ibrahim said the country would not allow itself to be used as a transit route for such shipments.
Ibrahim said all cargo deemed suspicious would be inspected and investigated in accordance with Malaysian law, stressing that decisive measures would be taken in every case where a violation was identified.
Ibrahim had also announced on July 15 that people holding both Israeli and another country’s citizenship who live or are present in Malaysia would be deported.
