Oscar-winning Spanish actor Javier Bardem, known for his support for the Palestinian people, announced on his social media account that he had joined the boycott of Adidas products.
In his account’s Stories section, Bardem shared posts by pro-Palestinian organizations and activists criticizing Adidas’ choice for its advertising campaign. The actor also supported calls to sabotage the brand’s campaign and urged his followers not to buy Adidas products.
Reacting to Adidas in his post, Bardem wrote: "Adidas chose a man with blood on his hands."
Adidas’ advertising campaign featured a soldier who took part in the attacks on Gaza in 2021 and lost his leg while serving in the Israeli army. The "One Shoe Service" advertisement led the company to issue an official apology after facing backlash and calls for a boycott.
Bardem also boycotted Adidas during the FIFA World Cup held last summer. Instead of the classic red jersey associated with the Spain national team, the actor wore a green jersey. He also showed his support for Palestine by wearing a Palestinian scarf at the Emmy Awards and a "No to War" badge at the Goya Awards.
