Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry backed the decision by 12 countries to take steps to ban trade and business relations with illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
The ministry said Israel’s efforts to eliminate the possibility of a two-state solution had intensified. It said the illegal settlements had become a systematic occupation policy threatening the existence of the State of Palestine.
Call for similar decisions from the international community
The Foreign Ministry said settler violence had reached levels amounting to ethnic cleansing. It said measures against Israel’s occupation activities were necessary to find a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and establish a just and lasting peace in the region.
The ministry called on responsible members of the international community to adopt similar decisions. It said Türkiye would continue its efforts to establish an independent and sovereign State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
12 countries’ move to ban trade
Among them, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Canada had announced their intention to ban trade with the occupied Palestinian territories.
