The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that more than 219,000 people have been displaced in Sudan's Kordofan region in the last 8 months due to clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
According to the statement published by IOM on Tuesday, a total of 219,319 people were displaced from the states of North, South and West Kordofan between the start of fierce clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF on October 25, 2025, and June 23.
IOM stated that the displaced have spread across 14 of the country's 18 states, to 1,012 different locations and 89 settlements.
The capital Khartoum hosts the most displaced with over 75,000 people, followed by the southern White Nile state with over 39,000 people.
The organization drew attention to a sharp increase in displacement numbers due to ongoing clashes in the Kordofan states.
Since April 2023, war has been ongoing in Sudan between the army and the RSF due to a disagreement over the integration of the RSF into military institutions. The clashes have led to famine, described as one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, the deaths of tens of thousands of people, and the displacement of approximately 13 million people.
