Qatar, Jordan and Saudi Arabia called on the international community to stop Israel's attacks on Syria's southern Quneitra and Daraa provinces.
In separate statements issued on Monday by the foreign ministries of the three countries, Israeli attacks were condemned and respect for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity was demanded.
Strong reaction from Jordan
Jordan's Foreign Ministry stated that the latest example of Israeli attacks on Syrian territory is artillery shelling on Quneitra and Daraa. The statement stressed that these actions constitute "a clear violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, a blatant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter."
Jordan also noted that Israel violated its obligations under the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, calling it a dangerous escalation that will lead to more conflict and tension in the region.
The ministry said all Israeli attacks targeting Syria's security and stability must stop, calling on the international community to "assume its legal and moral responsibilities, force Israel to stop its provocative and unlawful attacks against Syria, and end its occupation of part of its territory."
Condemnation from Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "the Israeli occupation forces continue their flagrant violations in the region, most recently targeting Quneitra and Daraa inside Syrian territory with artillery fire."
The statement completely rejected "the Israeli forces' intimidation of innocent civilians and their violations of international law and norms," stressing that attacks on Syria's sovereignty must stop and the 1974 agreement must be respected. Saudi Arabia reiterated its support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Qatar's call to the international community
Qatar's Foreign Ministry warned that the continuation of Israeli attacks on Syria will escalate tension in the region and undermine efforts to strengthen security and stability.
Qatar described the infiltration carried out by Israel simultaneously with artillery fire on Quneitra and Daraa as "a clear violation of Syria's sovereignty, a blatant breach of international law and international humanitarian law."
Calling on the international community to "fulfill its responsibilities, deter Israel, force it to comply with international law, and hold it accountable for its repeated crimes and attacks," Qatar reiterated full solidarity with the Syrian government and people and support for the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Reaction from Syria as well
Syria's Foreign Ministry also condemned in the strongest terms Israeli attacks on Quneitra and Daraa in a statement on Monday. The statement warned that these attacks intimidate civilians, undermine efforts to restore security and stability, and could lead to further escalation in the region.
The ministry called on the United Nations and the international community to take responsibility and take necessary steps to stop these repeated violations.
Background
On Sunday evening, the Israeli army opened fire on civilians in Daraa province, shelled a village and conducted flights over the area. There has been an escalation in Israeli attacks in Syria for months, including house raids, establishment of checkpoints and detentions.
These developments come after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, 2024, and Israel's announcement that the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement has collapsed, leading to its occupation of the buffer zone in Syria.
