Russian President Vladimir Putin received Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, who is in Moscow, at the Kremlin on Thursday, as announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Iranian state television and radio reported that Rezaei delivered a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to the Russian president during the meeting, without disclosing its contents. Neither side announced details of the talks.
The meeting came three days after Putin and Rezaei held a phone call that, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, addressed the situation in the region and the world, with a particular focus on West Asia, as part of high-level consultations between the two countries.
During the call, the two sides affirmed the need to continue the strategic partnership between Russia and Iran on the basis of the action plan drawn up by the senior leaderships of the two countries.
