U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that the question before him regarding the Iranians was: “Do I make a deal with them or eliminate them?”
Trump ruled out striking Iran on Sunday, saying: “The answer is no, there will be no strike today.” He had said he would not strike Iran again before the midterm elections scheduled for Nov. 3, but declined to rule out any subsequent military action, while also pointing to the possibility of reaching a “beautiful, big deal.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, for his part, said the possibility of a renewed war would not change Tehran’s positions. Iran’s ambassador in Islamabad confirmed that his country remains open to talks with the United States within the framework of the interim agreement brokered by Pakistan in June.
Reuters reported that Qatari mediators were in Tehran on Sunday as part of efforts coordinated by Washington to reduce tensions in the region.
