Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami, Florida, US. The US Marshals Service announced that the brothers were taken into custody on Sunday under a sealed arrest warrant. The UK government will seek the extradition of the Tate brothers on charges of rape and sexual abuse.
According to a statement from the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Andrew Tate faces seven counts of rape, three of human trafficking, three of assault, and 19 additional charges related to extreme pornography involving indecent images of children. Tristan Tate faces one count of sexual assault, two of rape, and three of arranging or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The brothers were previously facing 21 charges in the UK, including rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm, involving three victims. With the new charges, the total number of victims has risen to seven. The alleged incidents took place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The Tate brothers' lawyer, Joseph McBride, told AFP that he believes his clients will be released. McBride said, "We are confident that when a competent judge sees the facts and the Department of Justice confronts this horrific abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will be freed."
The brothers fled Romania after being arrested there in 2022. They face separate, unrelated charges of rape and human trafficking in Romania.
The Tate brothers, who gained fame by flaunting their luxurious lifestyles on online platforms, had drawn widespread criticism even before their legal troubles for behavior described as aggressive and misogynistic. Despite the controversies, they have a large following in the US as well. In 2025, it was reported that a White House official intervened to protect them after US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized their electronic devices.
Both Andrew and Tristan Tate deny all charges against them.
