Türkiye and Cameroon agreed to accelerate the completion of negotiations on a double taxation treaty between the two countries, paving the way for it to enter into force as soon as possible. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Türkiye’s Trade Minister Ömer Bolat and Cameroon’s Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development Alamine Ousmane Mey, who is currently visiting Türkiye.
In a post on X following the meeting in Istanbul, Bolat said the treaty would significantly contribute to developing investment ties between the two countries.

From trade to contracting
The Turkish minister said the two sides discussed ways to increase bilateral trade, which reached a record level in 2025, to even higher levels. They also discussed strengthening cooperation in the contracting sector through new projects, following the completion of projects worth more than $1 billion by Turkish contracting companies in Cameroon.
The meeting also addressed investment opportunities available to Turkish companies in Cameroon, particularly in agriculture, energy, tourism and services.
Bolat said Türkiye continues to develop its relations with the African continent on the basis of “mutual trust, common interests and the principle of win-win,” adding that Ankara would continue taking concrete steps to raise trade, investment and sectoral cooperation with Cameroon to higher levels.
