The event, held at a hotel in the capital on Thursday evening, was attended by Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri, along with ministers, lawmakers, ambassadors, diplomatic mission representatives, religious leaders, military attachés and hundreds of guests.
Tarek Mitri attended the event on behalf of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. Ahmed Hariri, secretary-general of the Future Movement, attended on behalf of former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, while former Minister Wael Abu Faour represented Druze leader Walid Jumblatt. Major General Yusuf Haddad represented the commander of the Lebanese Army.
The program began with the national anthems of Türkiye and Lebanon, followed by a screening of a video message sent by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Republic Day.
Murad Lutem: Türkiye stands with Lebanon
In his address, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut Murad Lutem described the proclamation of the Republic on Oct. 29, 1923, as one of the most important turning points in Türkiye’s history. Lutem said the Republic was founded as a result of the sacrifice and determination shown for independence, adding that Türkiye became an independent and sovereign state under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Lutem said Atatürk’s legacy continued to inspire Türkiye’s commitment to the values of national sovereignty, democracy, unity and peace. Saying that Atatürk’s words, “Peace at home, peace in the world,” continued to guide Türkiye’s policy, Lutem noted that Ankara actively contributed to global efforts for stability and peace.
Lutem said Türkiye and Lebanon had historical, cultural and humanitarian ties stretching back centuries, adding that Türkiye attached great importance to its friendship with Lebanon and to the country’s stability, security and prosperity.
Lutem said important diplomatic contacts held during the year demonstrated the two countries’ determination to develop their relations. He recalled that Turkish President Erdoğan received the Lebanese prime minister in Istanbul on July 10, while Lebanese President Aoun made an official visit to Ankara on July 30.
Lutem said Türkiye had also hosted other ministerial-level visits as part of its relations with Lebanon, adding that high-level contacts demonstrated a shared determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation and work for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
Lutem said Türkiye stood with Lebanon, as it had in the past, in the face of the challenges confronting the country, adding that Türkiye supported Lebanon’s efforts to end the attacks and the Israeli occupation.

Mitri: Relations continue on the basis of shared interests
Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri said the reception was a welcome occasion to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the Republic with Turkish friends.
Mitri said ties between Lebanon and Türkiye were based not only on the past, adding that relations continued today on the basis of shared interests and solidarity. He said the two countries had demonstrated solidarity in the face of attacks against the region and efforts to subjugate its peoples.
Mitri said Türkiye had stood with Lebanon during the various challenges it had faced, adding that awareness of the importance of shared interests between Turks and Lebanese was growing.
Mitri said the two countries belonged to a unique region of the world, adding that they needed to act together to protect the region, establish stability and ensure justice.
