Israeli army operations entered their eighth day in Hebron province, in the south of the occupied West Bank. The forces entered the Al-Jalda and Ayn Deir Bahha neighborhoods with soldiers and military vehicles, while raids around the Old City involved sealing off some homes and forcing Palestinians to leave them.
Dozens of Palestinians were forced to leave their homes in the Ayn Deir Bahha neighborhood. Israeli forces also searched two homes belonging to the Ja'be family and sent reinforcements around the homes of Ahmed and Hammude al-Ja'be, who are suspected of carrying out the October 23 attack.
Sounds of digging were heard inside the two homes. Some Palestinians were stopped and searched near military checkpoints in Hebron and subjected to ill-treatment.
October 23 attack cited as reason for operations
The Israeli army launched operations in Hebron after an October 23 attack carried out by Palestinians in which two Israeli soldiers were killed and three soldiers were wounded. The army later killed the two Palestinians who carried out the attack.
Since the same date, Israeli forces have restricted entry to and exit from the city of Hebron and surrounding villages. Some homes belonging to Palestinians in the Al-Jalda and Ayn Deir Bahha neighborhoods were seized and converted into military headquarters.

4,969 Palestinians displaced
Hebron Municipality said 4,969 Palestinians from 780 families had been displaced in the city as a result of the ongoing military operations.
In addition to forced displacement during the first days of the operations, homes and commercial establishments were demolished and infrastructure was damaged. Some homes were converted into military headquarters, with Israeli flags hung on them.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said 110 Palestinians had been detained by the Israeli army in Hebron province from the start of the operations through Wednesday.
The West Bank has seen an increase in practices targeting Palestinians, including killings, arrests, the demolition of homes and businesses, the destruction of farmland and the forced evacuation of settlements. Palestinians fear these practices are laying the groundwork for the annexation of the West Bank.
