Türkiye's embassy in Senegal's capital, Dakar, celebrated the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye at a reception held at its premises, attended by Turkish citizens, members of the diplomatic corps and Senegalese guests.
On Monday evening, the embassy published a video documenting the reception. In a post in Turkish and French, it said it had celebrated the occasion “with pride and enthusiasm.”

The video shows the embassy building with its facade decorated with the Turkish flag, while the flags of Türkiye, Senegal and Cabo Verde were displayed in the hall. The mascot of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, currently hosted by the Senegalese capital as the first Olympic event to be held on the African continent, attended the reception. Young people in sportswear also took the stage during the speeches.

The embassy is following the participation of Turkish athletes in the Games and regularly publishes the Turkish delegation's competition schedule on its account, wishing them success.
Toward a strategic partnership
In an interview with Senegalese newspaper Le Soleil marking the Republic's anniversary, Türkiye's ambassador to Senegal, Dilşad Kırbaşlı Karaoğlu, said the two countries were working to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion. She noted that high-level reciprocal visits over the past two years had paved the way for elevating relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
