The Turkish Yunus Emre Institute in Morocco’s capital, Rabat, held a welcoming event to mark the opening of the new academic year and its move to new premises at Mohammed V University, which hosts the institute.
The Turkish Embassy in Rabat attended the event and said in a post on its account on the X platform Monday evening that it had attended the welcoming ceremony hosted by the university in the presence of a large number of students.

Folk dances and traditional archery
The Tuwana Arts Club performed Turkish folk dances in traditional clothing, while Beyzanur Şimşek of Türkiye’s Okçular Vakfı performed traditional archery. The embassy expressed hope that the event would contribute to developing cooperation between Türkiye and Morocco in education and culture.

The institute is named after the Turkish Sufi poet Yunus Emre, who lived between the 13th and 14th centuries. It is Türkiye’s official institution responsible for teaching the Turkish language and promoting Turkish culture abroad, and offers Turkish-language courses in Morocco for students and anyone else interested.
The Turkish Embassy in Rabat recently marked the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye with a reception that also featured folk performances and a traditional archery display.
