As anti-corruption operations continue in Iraq, 15 MPs named in the investigation list are still carrying out their duties in parliament. The official list submitted to parliament includes a total of 19 MPs; four of them are from previous parliamentary terms, while 15 are from the current parliament.
Some of the suspects whose immunity was lifted by the Speaker of Parliament have been arrested, while others have fled. Despite this, a group of MPs are attending parliamentary sessions without any hindrance.
The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council announced the same day that the Rusafa Investigation Court, which handles corruption and money laundering cases, had returned 20 billion Iraqi dinars to the state treasury. The court stated that the recovered funds were linked to financial and administrative corruption and fraud investigations. The statement stressed that legal proceedings against those responsible would continue and efforts to recover public funds would persist.
These developments come as Iraq's large-scale anti-corruption operation, launched on June 28, 2026, continues. Dozens of officials, including MPs and political party leaders, have been detained in operations carried out across the country.
Among those arrested is Adnan Jumaili, Deputy Oil Minister for Refinery Affairs. So far, tens of billions of dinars, millions of dollars, and tens of kilograms of gold have been seized as part of the investigations.
The fact that MPs named in corruption files are still active in parliament indicates that investigations and legal proceedings are ongoing.
